COLLECTIONS
MOMENT.A
Exploring the concept of displacement: inspired by the myth of Ranginui and Papatūānuku.
We are displaced pieces longing to make ourselves whole, holding onto ephemeral things that are not meant to last. This collection delivers a message of liberation: hold onto moments as memories without forfeiting the momentum of moving forward.
Elongated silhouettes – handmade & sewn resin flower embellishments – long leather straps – adjustable belt details
Tangent Skies
An exploration of my dual cultural upbringing: Chinese and New Zealand.
When traditions become restrictions and expectations are unachievable, how do children born into cocoons of traditions find their identity, if ever? From being limited by a simple statement, “too bad she is not a son”, to finding freedom and a new idiom in art. This collection is my response to the cultures that shaped me, a transition from fortitude, to anger and resentment, and eventually forgiveness and acquiescence.
Oversized & straight silhouettes – pleating – textile painting & resin coating – textile dye painting
